Margaret Grace Monahan

Margaret Grace Monahan is a Senior at Our Lady of Mercy Academy. She is looking forward to studying English and History in college, on track to become a professor. She is a member of both the National Honor Society and the National Honor Society for Dance Arts. Margaret has been dancing since the age of two, a long-time member of the Posey Repertory Company, and is thrilled to be choreographing with them this year. She is also involved in many activities at OLMA including directing and choreographing the school musical this year, tutoring younger students as part of her service commitment in the National Honor Society, and participating in Mock Trial and Moot Court, Ambassadors Club, and Book Club. Throughout her four years at OLMA, Margaret has ended many quarters on the Principal’s List, and remains committed to academic excellence throughout her Senior year. Outside of school, Margaret enjoys working as a Barista at Starbucks. She is thrilled to be a Colleen with the Huntington Hibernians this year and wishes everyone involved with the organization a Happy Saint Patrick’s Day.

Margaret is the daughter of AOH Division 4 Vice President John F. Monahan and his wife, Amy M. Monahan, Esq., the loving sister to Seamus Monahan, AOH Junior Division President, and the beloved granddaughter of Mary Ellen Monahan & the late John R. Monahan and the late John J. Fitzpatrick & the late Joan M. Fitzpatrick.

Dahlia Sileo

Dahlia Sileo is a Northport High School Senior whose hobbies include cooking, gardening, and creative writing. She is a practicing Catholic and an advocate for Mental Health awareness. Dahlia hails from a long line of Hibernian brothers and has been involved in the organization for most of her life. She is thrilled to receive this top honor and ready to represent the AOH and the Colleens at this year's Huntington St. Patrick's Day Parade on Sunday, March 10.

If you are the daughter of a member in good standing of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and a high school senior, you are eligible to receive this prestigious scholarship award. If you are interested in applying for next year’s scholarship, we encourage you to download the online application, fill it out, and mail it back to us for consideration by our Scholarship Committee before the application deadline.

To be considered, all applicants must complete the application and submit it with a letter to the Scholarship Committee describing all activities, organizations, and work participated, as well as any offices held during their high school years. Additionally, we ask that each applicant submit an essay describing, in their own words, what it means to them to be Irish and how this scholarship will assist them in their academic journey.
