Neither wind nor rain will stop the Hibernians & Girl Scouts Food Drive

Braving the wind and rain of a Nor’easter on Saturday November 15, 2008 the Huntington Ancient Order of Hibernians, Div 4, Suffolk County, teamed with local girl scout troop, #1788 and Waldbaum’s Supermarket in Huntington Village, NY to collect over $4,000 in food products for local parish pantries. Despite the weather, residents generously donated over 30 carts of non perishable food to feed the hungry at Thanksgiving.

President Jack Ryan stated that each year Division 4 is a leading contributor to the areas's eight local parish food pantries and when the call came in asking for Thanksgiving help, the Division as usual responded. "The Division has long history of helping our local parish food pantries, back in the 90's, most of the work was done by our late brother, Jim Regan", said Ryan. "When Jim passed away a few years ago, the Division decided to memorialize his work by formerly creating the Jim Regan Memorial Food Drive not only continuing his work but greatly expanding it."

True to the mission of Friendship, Unity and Christian Charity, the Jim Regan Food Bank members enjoy working together reaching out to their neighbors to help the less fortunate.

About the Jim Regan Memorial Food Drive and to Donate:

In February, 2006 the members of the Huntington Ancient Order of Hibernians, Division 4, unanimously voted Jim Regan our Hibernian of the Year.

Jim’s dedication to his loving family, the community, his Hibernian Brothers and his Catholic faith has truly been unwavering and his sincere caring for others was limitless. His hard work and commitment raising money and collecting food for the many parish food pantries and outreach programs located here in Huntington was an act of love and inspirational to us all.

In memory of Jim Regan’s passing and for the many years he devoted himself to the needs of others supplying food to many parish pantries here in Huntington, the Hibernians have created the Jim Regan Memorial Food Drive. This allows the Hibernians to continue to meet the needs of the local food pantries and help continue to feed the upwards of 2,000 families who use the pantries to feed their families on a monthly basis
