The Huntington Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH) held its successful annual golf outing on Wednesday, October 15, at the scenic Crab Meadow Golf Course. This wonderful event brought together members, supporters, and the community for a day of friendly competition and celebration. Thanks to the generosity of all who attended and donated, proceeds from the outing will fund the Division's ongoing community support efforts, including charitable donations, educational programs, and cultural initiatives that uplift Huntington and its residents.
This year, the AOH was proud to honor Tom Forte. As a lifelong Huntington resident, Tom has been a beloved figure behind the bar for 60 years. His journey began at The Sportsmen Lounge, continued through Ferdinando’s Hideaway and Melville Bowl, and for the past 38 years, he’s been a fixture at Finnegan’s Restaurant and Tap Room.
Beyond the bar, Tom has been a leader in local sports and civic life. He served as President of the One Hundred Teams Huntington Softball League for 31 years, coached championship teams, and was inducted into both the Huntington and Long Island Softball Halls of Fame.
Married to his wife, Ann, for 53 years, they are proud parents of three and grandparents to six. A devoted supporter of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Tom is known for his humor, poetry, and deep community ties. For Tom, nothing tops the St. Patrick’s Day Parade—except, perhaps, a great day on the golf course.
The Huntington AOH extends a heartfelt thank you to all our golfers, sponsors, volunteers, and donors. Your generosity and support made the day a tremendous success and are what allow us to continue our charitable work throughout the community. We look forward to seeing you all again next year!
